Magic squares

The gallery of magic squares

Funny, naive, kitsch, colorful, these magic squares tell small stories that speak to the heart.

mikka's spirit

(without capitals)

Mikka creates, since 2002, digital images for computer screens. Involving the expanded color spectrum of the three sources of light red-green-blue of computer screens, television, and now this new artistic medium known as the "digital frame", which will gradually take place among the traditional artistic media, canvas and other mechanical panels, mikka's creations are at the forefront of new graphic techniques.

One can only enjoy the contrast between his speech, from which philosophy is never absent, and his work playing with absurd, derision and paradox. Even her most ambitious works, her "magmas", are foot-to-nose at the established art schools.

For her, art has remained as it had been defined during the Rinascimento, without any change in its meaning and its relationship to humans, and, during 500 years, it has explored all avenues authorised by the humanism, which gave it birth. A new inspiration, a new breath of air, must inevitably blow.

“ As we begin to really know the mechanisms of the brain and human psychology, she says, art is still unable to represent anything so deemed to be known as happiness, intelligence or love. Still need to know what these words really mean.  ”

She cites the small Robert - the famous French dictionnary - about kitsch: “ The kitsch might be regarded as a degeneration threatening all forms of art, or as a new form of art of happiness. ”

Mikka also creates logos and graphics charters for websites, such as sites kulturica.com, issamakhlouf.org and marcocamera.org and all sorts of animated postcards for groups or associations. You can contact her through this link, to obtain high-resolution images, graphics work or simply to talk about arts.

Animations

Animations

As kitsch as the magic squares, the animations show a sense of beauty which speaks to the child in us all.

Illuminations

Muslim illuminations

Without sacrificing her taste for wonder, but with the greatest respect, she "illuminates", usually in the form of animation, with passion Dhikr and Surat, which are the bridges to the divine. She believes that these colors that develop themselves around sacred calligraphy treats body and soul.

Magma 2

Magmas

In line with recent art school, mikka sacrificed at the altar of art for art. Theories of chance and chaos, fractals, visual impact of colors and shapes, neuroscience of vision, science of colorimetrics, thanks to her knowledge, mikka dissects the mechanisms of contemporary art.

Kulturica

Illustrations for the Kulturica website

Mikka works at the cultural site Kulturica and produces all kinds of illustrations, sometimes offbeat, or goody-goody.

My manifest: why so many colors?

The second half of the twentieth century has engulfed our old West, our beautiful Europe, and swept his certainties and values. World War II and the Years of Lead have marked our Art and will forever leave the memory of cries of pain in the middle of the flames. There is also a complex made of sense of guilt and helplessness: we can no longer hide the face, the whole of Europe was anti-Semitic, homophobic, afraid of the mentally handicapped and Freemasons, Communists and Gypsies. So 10 million people have perished in the camps. And I think that more than a century will be necessary for the mitigation of global trauma caused by exploding nuclear bombs in Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

The Art of the twentieth century is an art of crisis and pain. It is because I want, from my window, something else for the 3rd millennium that I switched to color and kitsch. That's all we can do for the world, as artists, imagiers, illustrators and graphic designers, offering small flakes of smiling beauty that we find under our fingernails.

My magic squares are works specially created for this new medium as the computer screen (or television). When compared to wood, canvas or paper, it is very bright, the color palette is much broader, and at the same time, if the files are stored, the work can last for centuries without any alteration.
